Ellen DeGeneres posted a heartfelt message for her ex-girlfriend Anne Heche.
The message from the former host of The Ellen Show came just moments before it was confirmed that Heche had been declared legally dead, although her heart is still beating so that her organs can be donated.
"It's a sad day," said DeGeneres, who dated Heche from 1997 to 2000 with Anne. "I am sending Anne's children, family and friends all my love."
DeGeneres and Heche were so close that in 1999 they declared that if Vermont legalized same-sex marriage, then they would officiate.
