Anne Hathaway has revealed that in the 2000s, the producers of a film she was supposed to star in asked her to kiss 10 actors at auditions.
At the time, she says, “it was considered normal to ask an actor to kiss other actors to test chemistry. Which is actually the worst way to do it."
She continued: "They told me, '10 guys are coming today and you're chosen. Aren't you excited to kiss them all?' And I thought, 'Is there something wrong with me?' Because I wasn't excited, I thought how disgusting."
Anne Hathaway, who is also a producer of her new film The Idea of You, organizes the auditions differently.
"We asked each of the actors who came to the audition to choose a song that they thought their character would like," said the actress. "We asked them to choose a song and then we would do a little improvisation."
