Patients with monkey pox should avoid contact with pets

Patients with monkey pox should avoid any contact with pets for 21 days, according to new advice from health authorities in the UK.

So far, there are 346 confirmed and suspected cases of the virus.

Pets can be particularly susceptible to the disease and the concern is that the disease can spread to the animal population.

The British government said so far no cases have been detected in pets and the risk is still low.
