Eating late at night is damaging your metabolism. Here's how

It was suspected for a long time and now it is confirmed: no matter how much you may enjoy a midnight snack, eating it is bad for you.

A new study from Harvard researchers has found that eating late at night increases hunger, reduces calorie burn and is actually able to change the metabolism of adults who are overweight or obese, increasing body fat.

About 42 percent of US adults are considered obese and, as a result, at risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer and other conditions.

It is also a growing problem in Europe, where 59 percent of adults are overweight or obese, including 8 percent of children under five, according to the WHO.

In a report published in May this year, the WHO revealed that obesity is causing 200,000 cases of cancer and 1.2 million deaths each year in Europe alone.
