Artificial intelligence can detect lung cancer up to 5 years before it occurs

It's called Sybil - like the Sibyl of the Greek oracle - and it's a new artificial intelligence system and it could revolutionize the diagnosis of lung cancer.

Created at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the system is capable of reading the lungs to infinity. It reveals details, so much so that we can predict the areas where a tumor will form in one, three or even five years.

So far it has been used experimentally, as Sybil has not yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This artificial intelligence option has shown in the course of various tests that it can predict with an accuracy ranging from 86 to 94% the occurrence of lung cancer within a year. The tumor still did not show up on the usual CT scan.
