Keeping a diet is often a lost game. Some studies suggest that more than nine in
But there are some simple things you can do to stay calm and happy for a long time with your weight without following any diet.
Dietitian Jason Ewoldt from the Mayo Clinic shared his ideas for a healthy body without strict diets.
Stay hydrated
Maybe everyone would do better if they drank a little more H2O. A 2021 study of more than 18,000 people in the US found that those who drank more water were consistently happier and ate fewer calories on a daily basis.
Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep
Most of us have a laid back attitude when it comes to painting a picture about ourselves. But neuroscientist and sleep expert Matthew Walker says this is wrong. According to Walker, lack of sleep is literally killing us.
And that makes us eat more bad food, too.
Definitely eat before you risk becoming nervous and impulsive
The advice is almost a cliché at this point, but more and more research suggests that those who eat breakfast stay sharper and avoid adding dangerous belly fat compared to people who do not eat breakfast.
Plan and prepare meals before you are hungry
When we are hungry, it can be hard to say no to processed foods, which are harmful to your body.
Ewoldt says having a daily plan "makes eating healthy is an achievement".
Make your days a little more delicious
Walnuts are fatty, a great way to get rid of cravings between meals. Recently, researchers have discovered that they are also a potentially saving protein source.
A study of more than 81,000 people in North America found that people who ate just a handful of mixed nuts or seeds a day reduced their risk of developing heart disease.
Exercise in the morning
Studies have shown that people who exercise in the morning on an empty stomach can burn up to 2 percent more body fat during their workouts, as they need to use more accumulated fat as fuel.
Treat yourself sometimes
If there is one thing that nutritionists and food experts agree on, it is that deprivation and mismanagement of "bad" foods leads to overeating and more diet fails.
So enjoy occasionally, Ewoldt says, as long as it is in moderation.
