Explosions in North Mitrovica

In North Mitrovica, on the evening of December 20, two explosions occurred, which are suspected to have been caused by the throwing of stun bombs.

According to the Police, police patrol units have reported that the explosions occurred at around 20:45 and 21:20 in Boshnjakke and Tre Rrokaqiej.

There are no reports of injuries or property damage.

Since the beginning of December, several incidents involving firearms, hand grenades and stun bombs have been recorded in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs.

On December 10, some local Serbs set up barricades on the roads leading to the border crossings between Kosovo and Serbia: Jarinje and Bernjak.

The barricades were erected as a sign of dissatisfaction with the arrest of a former Kosovo police officer.
