The Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, resigned. In his first appearance after the elections and their defeat, he resigned irrevocably as the country's prime minister, but also as party chairman.
"I congratulate our opponents for winning this election. I take responsibility for this political loss, including the results of this election. Resigns as Prime Minister and Chairman of SDSM. I will still stay here, as long as necessary, to help reorganize the new government with a progressive majority, which exists and can grow. "As a person, I am part of SDSM and I remain in the front line as a member of SDSM", said Zaev.
Zaev had announced his resignation. Before the local elections, he stated that if he lost Skopje, he would resign from any post, and that is what happened.
