Kurti: The European proposal will ensure de facto recognition by Serbia

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that the Western allies, through the proposal for the normalization of relations with Serbia, aim for Kosovo's membership in the international system and its real recognition by Belgrade.
"The allies of the Republic of Kosovo have therefore designed it as a package that will advance Kosovo's membership in the international system and which contains 'de facto' recognition, all of this based on the Charter of the United Nations, which constitutes a Constitution of international system after the Second World War for relations between independent states", said Prime Minister Kurti.
He made these comments in the Parliament of Kosovo following demands from the opposition to clarify the government's position before Monday's meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Brussels.
European Union representatives said that at the February 27 meeting, they are expected to discuss the European proposal that became known as the Franco-German initiative, supported by the United States.
