In Northern Macedonia, the first case of the Indian or known as Delta variant of the virus has been confirmed. The news was confirmed by Macedonian Health Minister Venko Felipce. He indicated that it was a Macedonian citizen who had returned from Iraq. After arriving in northern Macedonia, he felt unwell and was taken to hospital. He has been in hospital for 10 days, and fortunately his condition is safe for life.

According to Macedonian media, Minister Felipce said that this may have led to the transmission of the infection and there may be an increase in cases of coronavirus, because the latest British study found this variant 40% more transmissible than the British variant of coronavirus.

Will this affect the facilitation of the measures?

Minister Felipçe said that he will ask the authorities that the curfew and some other measures remain in force at least until June 15 to see the situation with the pandemic and the cases whether they will increase or not by that date.
