The construction of lanes dedicated to buses in Unit 7, in Tirana, begins. What innovation will they have?

The construction of lanes dedicated to buses in Unit 7, in Tirana, begins. What

The Municipality of Tirana has started the project for dedicated bus lanes from Unit 7, initially focusing on the segments: "Zogu i Zi Roundabout - 21 December", "21 December - Vasil Shanto", "Vasil Shanto" - Bryl intersection and "Kavaja street - 21 Djetori intersection". The project, carried out with the help of GIZ and the German KfW, aims to create infrastructure for the extension of lanes dedicated to the city transport service on several main roads of Tirana, the optimization of bus stations and their computerization.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, inspected the start of the work during the evening.

"We have seen some very successful experiments on 'Rruga e Durrës', on Rr. 'Dritan Hoxha', where the bus lane is express and comfortable. The bus slows down when it enters traffic with other cars, therefore we will continue the pilot project that we have implemented in 'Dritan Hoxha' and 'Rruga e Durrës' along the 'Ring'. In this first phase we will have some interventions. it is part of a study we have done with the German government, GIZ and KfW, but before we buy the new buses, we will have to build the infrastructure", said Veliaj.

The head of the Municipality also stopped at the solution of the problem of the place known as the node of "Kastriots". Veliaj said that there will be an intervention by creating a roundabout, as an important connecting node for the citizens of Kodër-Kamza, to significantly facilitate the movement in this area.

"One of the main interventions has to do with the 'Kastriot' joint. There we will work on a big roundabout, which will be a salvation for all those citizens who come and go from Tirana. It connects a very important neighborhood of Tirana, which is the part of Unit 11 across the river, like Kodër-Kamza, and of course it is a relief for all the fantastic citizens of Kamza, an extraordinary work force that comes to Tirana every day, but also for the wonderful students of Kamza, who come to study at the University of Tirana", he said.

Veliaj expressed his gratitude to the citizens for their patience during the works in the area. "Thanks to the citizens who understood us, who moved the cars while we were working. We finish 3-4 days here, we move to another station, so that then September finds us with a systemized Tirana, with bicycle lanes for the entire Ring Road, dedicated bus lanes and a modern map of 'Urban'", he concluded.

The priority of this infrastructural project in Unit 7 is the dedicated bus lanes, as well as information boards, which will be placed at every bus stop. The tables will have a special importance, as they will have more detailed information about the location and the unique code of the area, the route and the number of routes, as well as a horizontal diagram, where all the stops will be explained, as well as the frequency of the buses , not only on weekdays, but also on national holidays and holidays.
