Mayor Erion Veliaj, who inspected the works on the Olympic Track, said that Tirana is making every effort to be the capital of Europe next year, this time for Sport. Also, he remembered that this track is also a promise given to one of the Albanian champions like Luiza Gega.

"This has been an extraordinary year for Tirana, not only because we are the European Youth Capital, but also because we tried to, in addition to youth activities, have some investments that will remain even when this title ends. This space is one of these investments that will remain even when the calendar year of the capital of Youth is over. A promise I made publicly to Luiza Gegë. Now I'm glad we're at the Athletics Track and she's preparing for the European Athletics Championships in Munich, where we hope she'll come out white-faced. I think we made a fantastic investment," he said.
