The agreement is signed with the Qatar Fund, for the end square at "New Boulevard"
The Municipality of Tirana and the Qatar Development Fund signed today the agreement for the grant of 11 million euros, for the realization of the end square at the New Boulevard. The agreement was signed by the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj and the director of the Qatar Development Fund, Mr. Sultan Ahmad Al Asseri. Qatar's ambassador in Tirana, Ali bin Hamad Al-Marri, was also present.
Mayor Veliaj said that the "Katar" square, which will be built at the end of the "New Boulevard", will be a dowry for the Tirana of tomorrow. "It is a great pleasure to finalize a project of a special nature for the city. It is a project that will remain here for centuries. With this generous donation, a grant of 11 million euros, we will have the opportunity to do quality work that will remain in Tirana for hundreds of years, just as the friendship between Albania and Qatar will continue for hundreds of years. I am really grateful to them because this is one of the biggest grants that the city of Tirana has received since its foundation", said Veliaj.
He added that with the construction of the "Katar" square, 200 more parking spaces will be added and the project also serves as an organic link with Kamza.
The director of the Qatar Development Fund, Sultan Ahmad Al Asseri, said that the agreement is an important "cornerstone" in the cooperation with the Municipality of Tirana. He appreciated the "Qatar" square as a testament, which gives a social-economic impact to the citizens of Tirana.
