Rama: Albania will become a net exporter of electricity during this decade
Edi Rama at the Conference at the International Policy Conference in Abu Dhabi stated that during this decade Albania expects to become a net exporter of electricity.
The prime minister also added that the government is working to diversify energy by relying on renewable energy such as solar and wind energy, adding that a new plan will be adopted to decarbonize the economy.
" We are in line with EU policies and international documents to develop the energy sector in a harmonious and friendly way. The Albanian government has started to reform the energy sector since 2014 through measures taken to complete the legal and regulatory framework in accordance with the third package of the European Union for energy and in full compliance with EU directives on energy.
We are focused on diversifying energy production always based on renewable energy such as solar, wind and of course this will improve the current conditions when production is based on water resources.
The government will approve the new plan in accordance with the agenda of the energy community for the decarbonization of the economic sector. This plan will provide for the production of energy in the installed capacities in the period 2021 2030. Albania expects to become an exporter during this decade '' Electricity net '', Rama said.
