Rama is asked about Non Paper: We move forward agreeing that we do not agree

What is your perception of the Kosovo problem at the moment? Are there debates and controversies about the "non-paper" and the citizens of Kosovo who voted in the Albanian elections?

This was the question addressed to Prime Minister Edi Rama during the Annual Conference "State of the Union".

Rama said that the best way to move forward is agreement but added that for difficult issues no agreement is found. He focused on the Schengen area, mentioning the free movement of goods and economic activity in the Western Balkans, and added that what France and Germany did for the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue should be done.

Edi Rama:

The best way to move forward is to agree that we do not agree on difficult issues and to advance what we agree on. We must do our best to achieve the free movement of goods, capital and people to increase economic activity. This will help make the atmosphere more welcoming to handle hot issues. I think it is essential that we do what France and Germany did for the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue, a process that has sometimes been seen in both countries as something that has been neglected and on a second level. Involving large states and prioritizing dialogue in daily life will be much needed.

Earlier, Prime Minister Rama reacted to an article in the Austrian media Der Standard where he wrote that France and Germany had drafted a non-paper on changing the borders of the Balkans and that Rama and Serbian President Vucic had approved this project two years ago. He called it a fake and embarrassing article. There have also been reactions from Germany where this project has been categorically rejected.
