The Socialist Party has submitted today in the Albanian Parliament a draft resolution on the remembrance and honor of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica in the session that will be held on July 7. The draft resolution confirms Albania's position that the denial of the genocide committed against the Bosnian population by Bosnian Serb forces constitutes a violation of international law.

It is also considered unacceptable and extremely dangerous the continuation and escalation of nationalist political rhetoric, incitement of ethnic hatred as a result of the denial of the genocide in Srebrenica, massacres and other crimes against humanity committed throughout the former Yugoslavia by some individuals, groups, and political and media actors inside and outside the Balkan region.

The majority specifically wants to honor the victims of the Srebrenica genocide and declare July 11th as Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day. The chairman of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, said that the document was prepared by the best experts, is very professional and dignified and does Albania honor.

The Socialists blocked her passage to the plenary session, arguing that they could not accept such proposals from a person declared non grata by the US as corrupt and undermining democracy and also known as breaking the embargo on Slobodan Milosevic.
