The Ambassador of the European Union to Albania, Christiane Hohmann, who started her mission in Albania this week, has shared a message on Twitter where she says that she is looking forward to working with the Albanian institutions to make Albania part of the EU.

"Albania has just started a new chapter on its path to EU membership. Opening negotiations brings us closer and makes us stronger. It offers us excellent opportunities to consolidate the progress achieved and deepen the transformation of your country. I am looking forward to working with you, Albanian institutions, political forces, civil society and citizens to make Albania a member of the European Union", emphasizes Hohmann in her message to Albanians.

Who is Christiane Hohmann?

Christiane Constanze Hohmann was born on September 10, 1964 in Potsdam.

Christiane completed her English and French studies in Berlin and also studied English literature.

In 1994-1997 he worked at the US Embassy. She then worked at the Federal Foreign Office between 1997 and 2000 and as Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Cameroon from 2000 to 2003.

Hohmann worked at the European Commission in Brussels from 2005 to 2010. Then again at the US Embassy between 2010 and 2013 and, upon her return, headed a department at the Federal Foreign Office from 2013 to 2016.

In 2016, Christiane Hohmann replaced Christian Hellbach as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In July 2019 she was transferred to the German Embassy in Tallinn/Estonia.
