Shutting down TikTok and Snapchat, Rama: It's not a solution to problems, but it narrows the space that incites violence
Prime Minister Edi Rama, during the public consultation with parents, teachers on the closure of Tiktok and SnapChat applications, said that it is not a solution to the problem, but narrows the space that incites violence.
The Prime Minister announced that cameras will be implemented to monitor the learning process and school premises.
Rama also said that the digital controller will be installed at all entrances and exits of the schools, which signals the presence of metal tools and phones in students' bags or clothing.
"Now we have to be very clear and very real with each other that this problem is wider than that. It is not simple what happens inside the walls of the school.
But this is not something we have much in our hands and I don't know what medicine there is.
That all being said of course the idea of banning TikTok and/or SnapChat as two platforms that are problematic, – all platforms are problematic in fact, but these two are problematic for specific reasons – is an idea we've discussed at length since long time ago, not today, and that on this occasion we thought we should raise it for a wider discussion because it is not so black and white, it is not the solution to problems, but it is an element that can bring us to a significant narrowing of the space that e it stimulates, that inspires, that incites violence, bullying and stupidity in general.
So, having said all this and being very eager to hear your comments, I thank you once again for your presence and patience. And the word is for anyone of you who wants to say the thoughts and plus possibly the relevant suggestions because all teachers or parents have their angles and when teachers are also parents they see from both sides the subject we are most interested in than for everything else, which are the children", said Rama.
