Lavrov: West blocked my trip to Belgrade because it did not want us to support

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a recent statement to the media that Western countries had ordered the blocking of his trip to Belgrade to prevent Russia's support for the Open Balkans, which he called Serbia's initiative.

"It is clear that Brussels officials did not want us to confirm our position on Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and express support for Belgrade's initiative, the Open Balkans," Lavrov said.

The Open Balkans is an initiative established by Serbia, Albania and Northern Macedonia, to facilitate the passage of people, goods and services between countries. The three countries have also invited Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. But while Pristina and Sarajevo have refused, Montenegro has stated it will attend the next summit.
