The first round for the election of the President is burning, the majority and the opposition have no name
The Albanian Parliament has convened today to vote for the election of the new President, but the parties have not reached any concrete name.
Meanwhile, the Conference of Mayors will convene again tomorrow to set the date for the second round.
After this first round, the Constitution provides for 4 more rounds of voting. The election of the President in the first three votes requires a qualified majority of 84 votes, which imposes consensus with the opposition. The last two rounds require a simple majority of 71 votes, which gives the socialist majority the opportunity to vote as they wish.
