The end-of-year holidays are knocking in the capital / The tree lights at the New Bazaar are on,
Under the rhythms of music and children dancing, the lights of the New Year Tree at the New Bazaar symbolically marked the arrival of the holidays and the joyful atmosphere in the capital. As it has become a tradition, the New Bazaar, one of the most beautiful and frequented spaces in Tirana, was the first to turn on the lights of the New Year Tree.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, while wishing the participants happy holidays, said that this year showed us that together we are stronger.
"This year we connected a little more with each other, we spent a little more time with each other, we realized how expensive life is, we realized how much we need to be support for those who probably need it most, that perhaps they are lonely and have economic hardship. I believe that as a super-city that we are, when we are united we are stronger, when we help each other we are better, when we push each other forward and keep an eye on someone in need we become more beautiful from outside and from inside ", underlined Veliaj.
The mayor demanded that this new year, we be more solidary and help those in need.
"I really want this to be another end of the year where we are better and especially in solidarity with those who are most in need, with those who may have lost a family, with those who are probably still waiting for the reconstruction of the house from the earthquake with those who probably have a different ability and need more extra special love this year-end. So you can make a gift for those who need it most, for a neighbor, a classmate, for a relative. "If we all help each other, all of Tirana will be better this year-end," he said.
Veliaj added that after the New Bazaar, the holiday lights will be turned on at "Kalaja" and then at "Skënderbej" Square.
