Sunak resigns from the leadership of the conservatives: I take full

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has resigned as leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of Great Britain after Labor won the election.

In his final speech outside Number 10 Downing Street he took full responsibility for the Tories' heavy defeat.

"Following this result, I will resign as party leader, not immediately, but after formal arrangements have been made to choose my successor." So said Rishi Sunak, the outgoing Prime Minister at the head of the Conservative Party, speaking outside Downing Street after Labor's victory in the general elections held yesterday.

"It is important that, after 14 years of government, the Conservative Party rebuilds itself, but also resumes its decisive role as the opposition in a professional and effective manner," he added.

Referring to the winner of the election, Sir Keir Starmer, he said his political opponent was a "decent, spirited man whom he respected".
