The Guardian di Finanza has seized Irene Pivetti. a former speaker of the Italian parliament and her husband 4 million euros and three luxury cars of the Ferrari type.
According to authorities, the couple had lied to the state by not paying taxes from the sale of some luxury vehicles in various countries, from Hong Kong to Great Britain, Poland and Spain, which passed ownership thanks to some fictitious joint-stock companies, created by Pivetti.
The former politician has an infamous connection with Albania. In 1997, Irene Pivetti shocked the public with her statements on Albanian emigrants when she was speaker of the Italian parliament.
"Albanian clandestines must be thrown into the sea again. "And they are responding to law enforcement, their ships have to sink."
She later stated that she regretted that sentence, when she was not re-elected as an MP. Practically her political career ended in 2001.
