Poll / Neither Biden nor Macron! Merkel is regarded as the most important leader in the west
A Pew Research Center poll that measured the popularity of world leaders and people's perceptions of global politics has revealed that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is a more credible leader in leading the West than her counterparts Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron.
Pew results show that 77% of respondents in 16 different countries have expressed more confidence in the role and leadership of Angela Merkel than other leaders of major states. Biden ranks behind her, and the third most trusted is Emmanuel Macron, who has lost ground compared to previous years.
Although the level of approval for US President Joe Biden is high in countries like Sweden, France and Spain, Merkel ranks first in all these countries. Paradoxically, the American president ranks first in the preferences of the Germans, while the British appreciate them equally.
President Biden is several times more popular in the eyes of the European public than former President Donald Trump and is seen as more competent in directing global affairs.
A majority among Europeans considered Trump "dangerous and arrogant", epithets that only 20% address Biden.
