The US votes in favor of the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO
Finland and Sweden are one step away from joining NATO. The American Senate has voted in favor of their entry into NATO, in an overwhelming majority.
The result of the vote was greeted with gratitude by President Joe Biden, who wrote:
"Today, the Senate overwhelmingly approved the joining of our close partners, Finland and Sweden, in NATO. This historic vote sends an important signal of the United States' enduring, bipartisan commitment to NATO, ensuring that our Alliance is prepared to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow."
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Finland and Sweden, scared of a possible danger, applied to become part of the NATO military alliance.
