Plane crashes in Russia. At least 16 victims
At least 16 people have been killed and six injured after a plane crashed in Russia's Tatarstan region, the RIA news agency reported, citing Russian emergency services.
The plane, which crashed near the town of Menzelinsky, was carrying 20 paratroopers and two crew members.
The six survivors are in serious condition, the Ministry of Health declares.
The aircraft was a Let L-410 Turbolet, which is a two-engine short-range transport aircraft.
The cause of the crash is still unknown. The RIA news agency quoted local authorities as saying that a possible engine failure could be the cause of the crash.
