In some of the Turkish cities, in the main squares, people have risen up against the price increase. Turkish media have published footage of the tense situation between protesters and police. According to official figures, more than 160 protesters have been arrested.

30 individuals have been arrested in Be?ikta?, Istanbul, and 22 others in Sisli. Others, in other regions. All are accused of illegal protesting.

The protest was held today on the International Workers' Day and the protesters demanded not only a reduction in prices but also an increase in the minimum wage.
