Behind the scenes of Andrew's exclusion from the royal family. How Charles and William influenced the decision
Queen Elizabeth ousted Prince Andrew from the Royal Family last night, stripping him of all his titles and duties.
In a cold, two-line statement, Buckingham Palace also forced him to relinquish his Highness title and shattered all his hopes of resuming public office.
The statement said the ninth on the throne would defend his own case of sexual abuse in the United States 'as an ordinary citizen'.
Palace sources said the 'ruthless and hasty' decision was 'widely discussed' within the royal family after AndreW's failed attempt to persuade a judge to drop the civil lawsuit in which he is accused of having sex with a trafficking victim.
It is said that Charles and William had a hand in this decision who tried several times to persuade Andrew to give up himself, but they did not succeed.
"This has to do with the survival of the institution at all costs. "It has always been and will always be important," said a source close to the palace.
Andrea was summoned yesterday for a 90-minute meeting with his mother at Windsor Castle - and was accompanied by his personal lawyer, Gary Bloxsome.
But Mr. Bloxsome was not allowed to enter the royal residence and remained in the car.
