After mass shootings at schools, Texas requires students to wear transparent

The Dallas school district announced Monday it will require students to wear clear or mesh backpacks. This decision was taken after the massacre at the school in Uvalde where 19 students and two teachers were killed by an armed person.

The new rules apply to students in grades 6-12 and will take effect in the new school year, 2022-2023.

“We recognize that clear or mesh backpacks alone will not eliminate safety concerns. This is just one of several steps in the district's comprehensive plan to better ensure the safety of students and staff," says the education representative who instituted the rule.

The schools have bought the bags themselves and will distribute them to the students shortly before the start of the new academic year.
