WHO: 500 thousand victims from Covid until March if the necessary measures are not taken
The World Health Organization has expressed concern about the growing number of Covid cases in Europe.
WHO Regional Director Hans Kluge, in a statement to the media, called on European countries to take measures so that there is no possible deterioration of the situation.
He said the winter season, along with the dominance of the more contagious Delta variant, had increased the threat level, adding to the fact that many people are susceptible to the virus by not being vaccinated.
Kluge called for wider vaccination coverage, to implement basic public health measures and to develop new treatments.
The official still considered compulsory vaccination as a last resort.
Kluge warned of another 500 deaths by March if the necessary measures are not taken.
