Known as the Queen of Crypto! Who is the Bulgarian woman who is on the FBI's 10 most wanted list?
The woman believed to be at the heart of one of the world's biggest cryptocurrency scams is now on the FBI's top 10 most wanted fugitives.
Ruja Ignatova is accused of operating a worldwide pyramid scheme that took in more than $4 billion from 2014 to 2016 through the fake cryptocurrency OneCoin.
Ignatova, known as the Cryptoqueen, allegedly directed people from around the world to send money to OneCoin accounts to buy the cryptocurrency, according to the FBI. But OneCoin was not actively traded and could not be used to buy anything.
A Bulgarian citizen, Ignatova previously worked at McKinsey & Co, a consulting company. She was indicted by a federal grand jury in 2017, but remains at large.
