A woman was raped on a train in Philadelphia and no one present responded to

A woman is suspected of being raped on a Philadelphia suburban train last week, while police say there were many people around who should have done something.

Police have arrested a man suspected of being the perpetrator of the rape. Fishton Ngoy, 35, has been charged with rape. But the blame does not fall on him alone. Those present at the scene did not bother to stop or denounce the event. According to authorities, the incident was captured by video surveillance.

"Did they notice what was happening?" I do not know. We are constantly watching those videos to understand the situation. There were a lot of people present and in my opinion, they should have intervened. Someone should have done something. Where are we as a society? Who would allow such a thing to happen? So it is worrying, but again, we are working to identify those present, "said Police Officer Tim Bernhardt.

The woman who fell victim to the abuse was taken to a local hospital and is recovering.

"I hope she gets over it," Bernhardt said.
