A teenager who lived in the present day is declared a Saint
A teenager known as Influences of God after his ability to spread the teachings of the Catholic Church on the Internet led to his name, will become the first millennial saint.
Carlo Acutis died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15 and since his death has built a global following of devotees who see him as a role model for modern youth.
He is credited with two miracles that have received the blessing of Pope Francis to become a saint.
Miracles are usually evaluated over a period of several months.
Carlos' body was moved from London to Assisi, Italy, and it currently rests on display alongside other related relics.
And what are his miracles?
The first is the recovery of the university student in Florence, who had bleeding in the brain after head trauma. And the second is the recovery of a Brazilian child who suffered from a congenital disease affecting the pancreas.
It is not yet known when he will be officially canonized, as the process has begun and has been approved. He is Blessed since 2020.
The last person to be canonized was Maria Antonia de Paz y Figueroa, also known as Mama Antula, an 18th-century religious sister who became Argentina's first female saint.
