In Spanish bars and restaurants people will pay more if they choose tables in the shade
Spain has introduced a new law under which bars and restaurants will be able to charge an additional fee for tables placed in the shade.
Therefore, this summer, those who will visit Andalucia in Spain, will have to be careful where they sit in bars and restaurants. If the sun bothers you, then you will pay more for the shade.
In that area of Spain, in fact, the shade is a very precious thing, considering that the very high temperatures reach up to 47.6°C.
But how will the extra shadow pay work?
Ruben Sanchez, spokesman for the consumer association Facua, explained to the press that bars, cafes and restaurants will be able to ask for additional payment for a shaded place only if it is reported clearly and in writing. In short, customers should be informed of the surcharge before ordering. However, the "shadow supplement" will have limits. You will never be charged more than 10 euros for a table in the shade.
If a restaurant breaks these rules, it can face penalties.
Spain also forces every bar and restaurant to have a physical menu in addition to the QR code. This is because not all people have smart phones.
