Former Italian Prime Minister Ciariaco De Mita dies
Former Italian Prime Minister Luigi Ciriaco de Mita (1928-2022), the historic leader of the Italian Christian Democracy (DC), died today at the age of 94 in a nursing home in Avellino, where he was being treated for a femoral fracture he suffered after a drop in his home last February.
He graduated in Law and joined DC at a very young age. In 1963 he was elected MP and began a long political career that led him to parts of several governments, such as that of Aldo Moro and Giulio Andreotti, as ministers.
Luigi Ciriaco De Mita was an Italian politician who served as the 47th Prime Minister of Italy from 1988 to 1989 and as a member of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2013.
