Goodbye, spaghetti! Because of Brexit, the British are no longer eating pasta
Goodbye, spaghetti! Due to the bureaucratic problems created by Brexit, the British say goodbye to the Mediterranean diet: imports of pasta decrease by 28%, extra virgin olive oil decreases by 13% and tomato sauce produced in Italy by -16%.
These are just the first effects, measured in the first half of 2021, of the UK leaving the European Union. Italian wines and fizzy drinks (-7%) and cheeses (-9%).
The main problem for reducing imports and exports is the complicated bureaucracies in customs procedures as England is no longer part of the EU.
This situation does not interest both countries, neither buyers nor sellers.
