Explosives in the police car, Erdogan's assassination avoided

An assassination attempt on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was prevented by Turkish intelligence this Saturday evening. This is what the Turkish media report.

An explosive device was found under a police car following a meeting of the president in the southeastern city of Siirt.

The device was found just moments before the start of this meeting.

It was dismantled and deactivated by a Turkish police team to destroy the bombs, according to the Turkish newspaper KARAR.

Forensic investigators scanned the explosive device and the police vehicle for fingerprints and an investigation is said to have been launched to find the perpetrator.
