This is Xavier with the Letter of Honor who took a few hours before he was killed
Ten-year-old Xavier Lopez has been identified as one of the victims killed at Robb Elementary School, his mother Felicha Martinez confirmed to the Washington Post.
'He was funny, never serious and his smile,' Martinez said of the fourth grader, in her broken voice. "I will never forget that smile. He would always enjoy everyone. "
Just days before the end of his final year of elementary school, Xavier was counting down the days until he officially climbed the academic ladder at Flores High School in Uvalde.
'He really could not wait to go to high school,' said his mother.
His dreams seemed so close on Tuesday at Robb Elementary School honor registration ceremony. Martinez was there to cheer him on after Xavier's name was called to get his certificate. A few hours before the tragedy, Martinez shot a picture of Xavier.
She told him she was proud and that she loved him before embracing him goodbye. She said she did not imagine it would be the last moment she would share with 'mom's son'.
