The Kremlin has denied reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken with US President-elect Donald Trump.
The Washington Post reported that a call had taken place, citing unnamed sources, and said that Trump had told Putin that he should not escalate the war in Ukraine.
"It is completely untrue. It's pure fiction, it's just false information," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked about the call. "There was no conversation."
"This is the most obvious example of the quality of information that is being published now, sometimes even in quite reputable media," said Peskov.
Peskov added that Putin had no specific plans to talk to Trump at the moment.
