Turkish Finance Minister resigns due to economic problems in the country

Turkish Finance Minister Lutfi Elvan has resigned and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appointed a new Finance Minister last night.

This new appointment was made while the Turkish economy has experienced collapse of the national currency and rising inflation.

The head of state replaced Finance Minister with Deputy Foreign Minister Nureddin Nebati by means of a presidential executive order issued at midnight.

Elvan's mandate was characterized by the economic crisis. Yesterday morning, the Turkish Central Bank intervened to stop the free fall of the Turkish currency, which within a month lost 30% of its value against the dollar.
