A court in Tehran handed down the first death sentence to a person who was arrested during the protests that have erupted in the country recently.
The court stated that the arrested person had set fire to a government building and that he was guilty of 'enmity towards God'.
At least 20 people are facing charges that carry the death penalty, the Norway-based Iran Human Rights Group said.
Protests against Iran's government erupted two months ago after the death in custody of a 22-year-old woman who was arrested by morality police for not wearing a hijab.
Authorities said Mahsa Amini died of a heart attack, but her family believes she died as a result of being beaten by police.
