Japan is on alert. After the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the country, authorities have warned of a tsunami.
A one-meter tsunami is expected to hit southern Japan.
The earthquake occurred less than 20 miles off the coast of Miyazaki, according to the United States Geological Survey.
So far there is no information about damage to people.
Japan, as an area with high seismic activity, has adapted buildings to the situation to make them more resistant to earthquakes.
Tsunami would be a greater danger.
