Australian firm fined: These outfits prevent Covid

An Australian sportswear brand has been fined A $ 5 million following an ad claiming its clothing eliminated and stopped the spread of Covid. Lorna Jane advertised the LJ Shield dress saying it prevents the transfer of all pathogens.

The court stated that this type of advertising was exploitative and potentially dangerous, while Lorna Jane accepted the court's fine decision.

The legal action was taken by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) after Lorna Jane started trading clothing last July during the Covid pandemic.

Lorna founder Jane Clarkson was born in Lancashire but immigrated to Australia with her family when she was a child and started the business more than 30 years ago.
