EMA warns of a new variant of COVID-19 in winter
The European Union Medicines Agency stated that a new variant of COVID-19 may appear this winter, but existing vaccines can protect against severe disease.
The EMA said on September 2 that the organization is preparing to launch a campaign for booster vaccines ahead of an anticipated new wave of coronavirus cases.
The head of vaccines at the EMA, Marco Cavaleri, told a press conference that people "shouldn't wait for a specific vaccine"
"An entirely new variant may emerge that we are unable to predict today," he said.
