Andy Kerbrat, a French MP from the left-wing party "La France Insoumise", was caught red-handed by the police while buying drugs on the street.
This was announced by the MP himself in a statement posted on social networks, confirming the news initially spread by the weekly "Valeurs Actuelles".
Kerbrat was not given a detention measure, but the next day he went to the police for questioning. He says that he is "at the disposal of justice" and assures that he will "fight against his addiction".
Kebrat apologizes to his constituents, as well as his parliamentary group. Meanwhile, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau reacted by saying that "it is intolerable" for a deputy to consume narcotics.
