Mass wedding in New York. 200 couples who could not during the pandemic get married
200 couples who had decided to marry or renew their vows during the pandemic period, but could not, have gathered at Lincoln Center, in New York.
The event was free. It was organized by the city. Some brides wore white dresses. Others preferred to be comfortable for the party that lasted several hours.
"Celebrate love" lasted several hours. It started with a symbolic non-legal ceremony, before which the couples were given bouquets of flowers. Others got henna tattoos and posed for pictures.
"New York is unbreakable," said Mayor Eric Adams when he took the stage as a band played "New York, New York." He added: “Nothing can destroy our spirit. Nothing can ever destroy our love for each other."
