Britons could face new rules to save as much electricity as possible and avoid a possible Christmas blackout.

"Millions of Britons could be asked to curtail their energy use this winter, especially at peak times. They can be suggested to cook after 8:00 p.m., do laundry in the morning, and turn off the lights if it's not windy (because of wind energy)," says Kathryn Porter, from the consulting company Watt -Logic.

In the US, people have been asked not to use washing machines, dishwashers and ovens between 2pm and 8pm due to the global energy crisis. It is also not advisable to charge cars before 21:00.

In Germany, far from residential areas, street lights are dimming, traffic lights at quieter intersections are turned off, hot water and central heating are turned off in public buildings, monuments will no longer light up at night.
