The EU exempts 3 member states from the embargo on Russian oil

The European Union will allow three member states not to ban imports of Russian oil, according to Reuters.

Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic will continue to buy Russian oil even after the union has approved a total embargo on it, in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

According to the proposal from the European Commission, Hungary and Slovakia will continue to buy Russian oil until the end of 2024, while the Czech Republic until June 2024, if it fails to provide an alternative source from southern Europe.
