The EU proposes to give up Russian oil permanently
The European Union is proposing to completely give up Russian oil, according to Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission.
"Finally, we are proposing to completely give up Russian oil. Let's be clear: it's not going to be easy. But we just have to work to achieve that. "We will make sure to phase out Russian oil on a regular basis, to maximize pressure on Russia, while minimizing the impact on our economies."
Von der Leyen is delivering her speech in the European Parliament during a debate on the sixth package of sanctions against Russia.
