The EU is preparing a lawsuit against AstraZeneca for not sending anti-COVID

The European Commission announced today that it is preparing a lawsuit against the company AstraZeneca which had signed an agreement with the EU for the delivery of 100 million doses of anti-COVID vaccine in the first quarter of this year, but managed to send only 30 million such.

The Commission has also notified the ambassadors of all member states to support with their legal expertise in drafting the lawsuit as well as in the subsequent court process.

According to POLITICO, the lawsuit is expected to be filed in International Courts by the end of this week.

Recall that the non-delivery of 70 million doses plunged the EU into another pandemic wave which brought back a complete "lockdown" in France and Germany, as well as questioned the achievement of the goal of full vaccination of Europeans before September in order to avoid a another pandemic wave with the next flu season.

It is in response to this delay by AstraZeneca that the initiative has been taken to build several factories within the EU so that the block is not dependent on imports to be immunized against the COVID-19 virus.
